Sometimes, you might see pictures. Sometimes, you will hear personal stories. Always, you will receive insight to get to know your coaches better.
As the seasons transition, parents are beginning to look for fun, safe, summer activities for their children. I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past year and some of the new practices that we have incorporated into our practice.
First, I want to take a moment to acknowledge my amazing staff for trusting me when we were forced to pivot and keep marching. These rock stars have proven to be some of the most resilient and loyal instructors to both their swimmers and their job. Coaches Alex, Amber, Brittany, Caroline, and Melanie- From the bottom of my heart- Thank you. We would not be here without all of your hard work and patience.
Next, behind the scenes, my office staff Liz and Sophia bravely handle scheduling, marketing, and strategizing to help me create an efficient process to handle the personalized phone calls and emails, the implementation of new skill levels, and proper registration. These incredible minds help me stay sane so I can enjoy building relationships with the children in our care.
Then, the remarkable and courageous swimmers who continue to impress and excite me with their growth in both abilities and confidence in and out of the water. It is their precious spirits that motivate me every day. And if you love something as much as I love sharing the water with these guppies, it never feels like work.
Finally, Thank you- To the parents who entrusted their greatest gifts with us. Words cannot express my gratitude of the opportunity to share my passion and interact with each child. We appreciate your continued support and trust. Our mission revolves around growing relationships and partnering to keep these guppies safe and healthy by developing a strong foundation for life-long skills to build upon.
To continue this positive progress, the Kickers team needed to review the activities that have been taking place throughout the facilities as well as seeking the guidance of the US Swim School Association, local government officials, and the CDC. We want to focus on the modifications of the environment for the health of our families and staff, safety of our swim lessons, and the cleanliness of our facility.
We are continuing the following procedures:
Asking families to limit attendance to one parent/guardian and swimmers only
Limiting the number of people on the deck and in the pool based on local guidelines
Daily wellness and temperature checks for all staff
Curriculum adjustments to reduce face to face exposure during swim lessons
Enhanced sanitation procedures during the day
Hand Sanitation and Sanitation wipes provided for continuous use
Increased pool chemistry checks throughout the day
Increased Sanitation of all pool toys used in our lessons
Chairs adjusted to meet social distancing guidelines
It is important to note that a properly maintained and sanitized pool is still considered a safe environment for our children and families. We have commercial sanitation and filtration systems which maintain the proper chlorinated levels. You will be able to see the current levels and temperatures on posted signs.
“There is no evidence that the virus that cause COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. Proper operation and maintenance, including disinfection with chlorine and bromine, of these facilities should inactive the virus in the water.” - CDC (2020) Water and COVID-19 FAQs
We can all acknowledge that this world has experienced changes in the last year. But water safety remains as important as ever. According to the CDC, drowning remains the #1 cause of unintentional injury-related death among children ages 1-4 years old. Participation in formal swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children ages 1-5 years old, according to the National Institutes of Health. We are excited to welcome new families to our swim school. This year, we are looking forward to developing safe and confident swimmers in one of our THREE pools this summer. Thank you for being a valuable part of our team.
